The haiku is a special type of three-line poem. Originally from Japan, it is made of seventeen syllables (5 - 7 - 5 syllable pattern). The traditional haiku is usually about nature, but English haiku may be about any topic. Use lots of sensory description (sight, taste, touch, sound, and scent), and be objective (No use of “I”).
